Dear Reader, writing this article meant a lot to me, and your support would mean even more. Medium allows you to give up to 50 claps for an article, so if this resonated with you, please don’t hesitate to give it all 50. Thank you so much for being here and for cheering me on!

Dear Mummy,

I don’t even know where to start because words will never be enough to express how much you mean to me.

You are my safe place, my strongest support, and the one who has loved me through every high and low. You are the reason I believe in the strength of a mother’s love.

I have watched you give your all for us, every single day, without holding back. You worked, struggled, and carried responsibilities that weren’t meant to be yours alone.

You wiped our tears while hiding your own. You made sure we had food on our table, clothes on our backs, and a chance at a good life, even when it meant sacrificing your own comfort.

Mummy, I see you. I see your strength, your sacrifices, your silent battles. I see the way you push through exhaustion just to make sure we are okay.

I see the days you pretend to be strong, even when your heart is heavy. I see the way you pray for us, the way you fight for us, the way you love us with everything in you. And it breaks me sometimes because I know life hasn’t been fair to you.

You carried the weight of two people on your shoulders, played the role of both father and mother, and never for once made us feel less than anyone else.

You worked tirelessly to send us to school, to pay our bills, to give us the life you never had.

What a woman!

What a mother!

If there is any definition of strength, it is you. If there is any definition of love, it is you.

Mummy, I wish I could give you the world because you deserve it and more.

But today, I pray that God Himself will reward you. May your days be filled with laughter and peace. May all the silent prayers you whispered for us come back to you as blessings. May you never lack love, joy, and rest. May your heart never know sorrow.

Happy birthday, my beautiful, strong, and selfless mother. You are my hero, and I am forever grateful that God chose me to be your child. I love you shamelessly, Maami.

With all my love,
AdeJesulOluwa.
